Real Time Creative has an Papertronic® book production partnership with Papertronic Ltd, the inventor and publisher of Papertronic® books, which are printed on paper, like a conventional book; but additionally has portable electronic storage (optionally, in the cloud or on an SD card), which contains the full content of the electronic part of the book that can be activated by scanning bar codes attached to elements of the Papertronic® book via an app residing on a mobile phone or a barcode reader.
The paper and electronic parts of the book are linked, typically by sharing the same on-page and on-screen pictures. These pictures refer to the audiovisual annotations, which accompany the written text. These and may be in audiovisual or multimedia form, and may have interactive elements. Thus the contents of specific paragraphs may be expressed in complementary ways through words in the printed book and audiovisual compositions in the electronic part of the book.
Images and Sounds by Carol Lorac is an example of a 9 chapter Papertronic® book where each chapter has up to 30 on-page and on-screen pictures linked to each other by a bar code, which is incorporated into an on-page picture and accessed by using a smart phone's camera or barcode reader.
